The fluid passages formed inside the heat exchange tubes of a tube bundle heat exchanger are defined as the tube side, while the fluid passages outside the heat exchange tubes are referred to as the shell side. One working medium flows into the heat transfer tubes through the inlet nozzle at the channel head. Single-pass, two-pass or four-pass tube side structures can be configured according to process requirements. The other working medium enters the shell through the inlet nozzle at one end of the shell and distributes evenly outside the heat transfer tubes. Different types and quantities of baffles can be installed among the tube bundles to adjust its flow pattern as required by the process.
Two working media with different temperatures enter the heat exchanger. The medium with a higher temperature transfers heat to the lower-temperature medium through the walls of heat exchange tubes. The high-temperature medium is cooled down while the low-temperature medium is heated up, thereby fulfilling the heat exchange process of the two fluids.
